Fitting our attractive and expertly designed windows and doors in your property will definitely add lasting value to your home. But it certainly won't lengthen the list of chores for which you'd rather not find the time to do...especially if they're smart, strong and virtually maintenance free. The unique properties of uPVC make it an obvious choice for thousands of people across the Australia who are looking to enhance their homes. |
Because uPVC is a remarkably low maintenance material, there will be no flaking, no fading, no rusting and no rotting. All that’s needed is an occasional wipe with a damp cloth and you only need to put some oil on the locks and levers now and then, it’s that easy.
WHAT IS uPVC?
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride Vinyl) is one of the three major thermoplastics – Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE) and PVC being manufactured and used across the globe. Globaly, around 60% (˜21 million metric tons) of PVC finds its way into infrastructure in the form of Water/SWR/ Plumbing/Drainage Pipes, Window & Door Profiles, Prefab Housing, Portal Cabins, False Ceilings, Wires & Cables, Floorings, Sidings & Claddings, Dockings, Fencing, Cable Trays & Channels, etc. thereby earning the sobriquet of “Infrastructure Plastic”.
To make PVC useful for various applications, additives such as thermal stabilizers, lubricants, processing aids, colorants, UV stabilizers, Plasticizers, filers, etc. are added to it before processing to ensure good mechanical properties and weather-ability. Due to this process, called “Compounding”, PVC becomes a highly versatile plastic making its processing possible for the rigidest of products (unplasticised PVC, i.e. uPVC) to the softest (fPVC)
WHY uPVC WINDOWS?
UPVC Windows are widely used across the globe, from the deserts of Arizona to the coldest parts of Scandinavia/Russia, from the hot environs of Gulf to the tropics of Malaysia, Thailand as well as very extensively in China, S. Korea, Taiwan, and many more Geographies. In fact Europe and North America predominantly use only UPVC Windows in their residential constructions, for both new and replacement. This is due to their good aesthetics, durability, noise proof, low maintenance requirement, best air & water tightness, and their ability to provide excellent thermal insulation, thereby helping save air conditioning power costs in homes, offices and commercial centers.
UPVC Windows come with a very high quality surface finish, soft-contoured profiles and a variety of styles to meet the needs of the most demanding architects, designers and users. The environmental benefit of using UPVC Windows instead of wood and metal windows is phenomenal. Due to their ability to conserve energy throughout their lifetime, UPVC Windows are recognized as Green Windows thereby scoring over traditional wood and metal windows.

High Sound Insulation
In our busy lives, the hustle and bustle of every day living leaves us craving a little peace and quiet when we want it. Protection from noise is an important characteristic of a modern window, ensuring a comfortable life, both at home and in the office.
Thermal Efficient Insulation
Unlike metals, uPVC is non-conductive, meaning its use in window frames does not transfer heat and therefore contributes to a more consistent internal temperature in a building. The combination of uPVC frames and double glazing makes for highly energy efficient windows in all climates. From the hottest summers to the iciest winters, uPVC windows and doors help you to enjoy a perfectly comfortable atmosphere in your home. Multi-chambered design keeps you insulated from the outside temperatures, providing you the best available thermal performance possible today.
Material & Structural Performance
uPVC is a very durable material used in water and sewer pipes for at least 100 years. Vinyl windows are so durable that the vast majority of them installed over the past 25 years are still in use.
Good quality uPVC windows and doors are tested for ultra violet resistance to ensure they won’t fade in the harsh Australian sun.
In the profiles we use the material compound performs and exceeds worldwide standards for strength, durability, heat-stability, colour-retention, and termite-resistance.
Fire Safety
Fire tests have shown that uPVC products are naturally flame retardant throughout their product life. They will not cause, support or enhance the development of accidental fire. Unlike timber windows, uPVC profiles do not support combustion and are in fact self-extinguishing.
Maximum Water Tightness
Our uPVC windows and doors systems have been successfully used in swimming pool facilities, marine and ocean environments without any detriment to its surface-finish or performance. Weather-tightness and its resistance to driving rain is one of the main assets of uPVC windows and doors.
Termite Resistance
In many climates, timber windows and doors are often destroyed by termites, whereas uPVC products are fully resistant to these pests, thanks to a scientifically developed compound technology.
Maximum Wind Resistance
Due to our high-quality material properties and gasket technology, the windows and doors we manufacture are ideal for installation in seaside locations and areas with extreme wind exposure. Salty air, strong wind and extreme weathering has no effect on performance.
Low Thermal Expansion
uPVC windows easily operate under any weather conditions due to its low thermal expansion coefficient (3×10-5cm/C/cm). The extrusive process of uPVC window and door profiles is relatively energy efficient, compared to other materials. Another benefit where u-PVC has been specified as an alternative to wood is that it helps in slowing down of the rate of cutting down of forests. uPVC window and door systems are environmentally friendly as they can be fully recycled and reused for the production of uPVC profiles.
Impact Resistance
Due to their excellent material properties, uPVC windows and doors are ideal for being installed in buildings close to the sea where they are permanently exposed to strong winds, heavy rain and salty air. Our products are designed & specially formulated to withstand high impact. uPVC profiles have strong resistance power and can also be fitted in high rise buildings.
Corrosion Resistance
uPVC windows are free from the attack of acids, alkalis, waste gases and salts.
Bushfire Performance
Double glazed uPVC windows can be used in Australia in areas where risk is zoned as Bushfire Attack Level 29kW/m2 (BAL 29). Some uPVC windows have been tested to withstand BAL 40.
Recyclable
uPVC can be recycled as often as 10 times. Where they have been commonly used for the past 30 years, such as in Europe, uPVC windows and doors can be, and are, recycled at the end of life. Although very little end of life uPVC windows are presently available for recycling in Australia, Australian industry programs are committed to keeping uPVC out of landfills, putting it back into new products.
Manufactured Locally
In our experience, advanced manufacturing techniques in precision and speed for improved automation and the use of intelligent, experienced and passionate people can provide long term and sustainable productivity improvements that lead to cost efficiency and price competitiveness.
Quality Assurance
A look at our manufacturing, quality assurance operations provides the answer that there are more testing than production steps. Testing is conducted throughout, from design to windows in place.
What is uPVC ?
uPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl-chloride) windows & doors exhibit excellent resistance to aggressive environments both naturally occurring and as a result of human activity. They are resistant to almost all types of corrosion.
PVC stands for Poly Vinyl Chloride, one of the most widely-produced plastics in the world. The ‘u’ in uPVC denotes that the PVC is unplasticized, which means that it is rigid. PVC was discovered in the 19th century, but didn’t come into widespread use until the 20th century. Now it’s one of the most common materials used in manufacturing and construction for its versatility and durability.
How long has uPVC been used in windows?
The use of uPVC in windows began in Germany in the 1960s, and Ireland, Britain and North America soon followed. Once manufacturers realised the advantages of uPVC over wood and metal, it became very popular. In the last few years, the aesthetic qualities of uPVC have improved a lot, with the wood effect uPVC almost indistinguishable from real timber.
How does uPVC differ from timber frames?
UPVC has pretty much replaced timber windows, as it is unmatched in its durability and insulation of heat and noise. uPVC will not rot or warp, it is unaffected by weather and the colors will not fade.
How environmentally friendly is uPVC?
UPVC has a low environmental impact compared to metal and wood alternatives. It doesn’t require hardwood forest logging for example. It also has a longer life cycle than timber and aluminum, it is easier to manufacture, and it can be recycled.
How does uPVC fare in terms of fire prevention?
Risk of bushfire is an ever-present reality, especially during our hot summers. Airborne ember attack is the biggest cause of spreading fire during this dangerous situation. UPVC is considered inherently flame retardant. It has a considerably higher combustion temperature than wood. It will char when burning, is self-extinguishing, and it also produces no burning debris.
uPVC window frames have been developed and tested specifically to meet construction requirements for designated Bushfire Attack Levels (BAL) within Australian Standards for Construction in Bushfire Prone Areas (AS 3959:2009). uPVC windows with metal reinforcing are permitted in zones classified as up to BAL-29 (where the number represents the heat flux in kW m2) risk. Some uPVC window systems have been independently tested and comply with AS 1530.8.1 which permits their use in zones BAL-40 and above.
How long do uPVC windows last?
Windows with uPVC should last about 40 years if properly fitted. They require no maintenance, they don’t need to be painted and can be wiped clean.
What type of window shape are they suitable for?
UPVC can suit almost all window types, including sash, casement, awning, arch, tilt and turn, fixed and sliders. You can see examples of our varied uPVC window work in our gallery.
What colours does uPVC come in?
The color choice of uPVC is vast, and with many options for wood effect.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, there is a 10 years warranty on all our uPVC windows & doors.
I live on a busy main road can your windows reduce the traffic noise?
YES. Our window system is designed for a double glazed unit, and with certain glass configurations we can achieve Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings of 44. We have installed our system into many buildings both domestic and commercial in order to alleviate noise problems such as road and aircraft noise.
The Australian climate can be very harsh. How will this affect uPVC?
Deceuninck, the manufacturer of the extrusion, have had their product on test for over 20 years. Their product is resistant to ultra violet and is specially formulated to suit the Australian climate.
Can I fit the windows myself?
The windows and doors arrive on site complete and ready to install. However, as a responsible company we offer a ten year guarantee on our products and installation. We could not offer a similar guarantee if the installation was not completed by an approved installer. Should you wish to carry out your own installation, then we will supply fitting instructions.
Will the windows withstand the cyclonic conditions that sometimes occur in Australia?
All our windows and doors have been tested to conform to Australian Standards and Deceuninck are continually testing and improving their products to meet the standards and conditions as appropriate.
What type of glazing do you offer with your systems?
The Zendow System by Deceuninck are extruded to accept single, double and triple glazing. We can also supply a whole range of coated, tinted and bullet proof glass.
Can I replace my existing windows with your uPVC systems?
Our uPVC windows and doors are ideal as replacement, or for new-build projects.
Can I visit your showroom?
Customers are more than welcome to visit the showroom and view our range of doors and windows. The opening hours are between 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
